Celebrating 20 Years with the Volvo C70

The Volvo C70 is a one of the Scandinavian car company’s most well-known brands, and in 2016, it celebrated its 20th birthday.

The Volvo C70 made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 1996. It made its mark with a newer, slimmer body. It was also Volvo’s first “proper” coupé since the 1800s. Volvo was accountable for the simple technical structure of the vehicle and decided which features the car came with. The engineering firm, TWR, was in charge of the C70’s design and production.

After it was produced, Volvo didn’t change the car’s design for another nine years. The Volvo C70 Coupé was mass-produced until 2002, and the convertible was manufactured for another three years, until April 2005. By this time, Volvo had made 76,809 C70s including 27,014 coupés and 49,795, cabriolets (convertibles). In the original Volvo C70’s place, a second generation C70 convertible featuring a three-piece retractable hardtop was launched at the Paris Motor Show in September 2005.
